I was able to attend and have party in a 12-hour Summer music festival happened last April 27 at the Mall of Asia concert grounds, the Close Up Summer Solstice concert that featured international DJ’s, foreign artist and local bands.
Mall of Asia concert ground is a perfect venue for this event. Last January 19, the Dream KPOP Fantasy Concert held here that features famous KPOP groups like Girls’ Generation and U-KISS. If the ceiling can’t hold the crowd, the MOA concert ground can.
The Artists and Perfomances
The multi-awarded Filipino rock band from Cebu, Urbandub started the show with their awesome performances. Next to them was the 2012 Male Rock Artist of the Year, the hyper Yael Yuson and the rest of Spongecola that set the venue with a blast. Last but not the least local flavor that perfomed was Sandwich that also sang the crowd’s favorite, Betamax.
The first international perfomer who kicked off the night was the Jumpsmoker, the club rockers and remix masters composed of Roman, Reydon, Johnny Digital and Fil-Am Flipside. Next on the list is Dev, who popularized the song Bass Down Low, In The Dark and collaborated with Far East Movement in their song Like A G6. Cobra Starships set the fire on stage and made the good girls go bad .
Next to the Cobra Starship was Alex Gaudino that performed awesome beats and mixes. Apster made the crowd go wild with killer techno beats. Although everyone is losing their phone battery, the crowds have a fully loaded energy.
One of electronic dance music’s major icons and the one who co-wrote and produced of “Give Me Everything” for Pitbull and Ne-Yo, Afrojack continued to rock the grounds with his epic mash hits. Lastly, all the way from the heat of Miami to the heat of Manila, Cedric Gervais ended the night with a bang!
Partying with the Celebrities
Local celebrities like John Lloyd Cruz, Enrique Gil, Coleen Garcia, Andi Manzano, Julia Barreto, Khalil Ramos and many more stars had been spotted on the event to have some fun and enjoy the night with their pals.
After 12 hours of non-stop beats and party, Close Up made a history for having making this the BIGGEST party this summer. Maybe next year, it will have another summer solstice concert, for sure it will be another blast!
